In 2006 the National Health Trainer Team set up a National Implementation Group to consider the monitoring requirements of Health Trainer Services. As a result a National Data Collection Reporting System (DCRS) was established and a software solution was designed by what was then the Birmingham Primary Care Shared Services Agency (BPCSSA). It is now maintained through the Central Midlands Commissioning Support Unit and is used by a large number (but not all) Health Trainer Services. The DCRS system provides managers with valuable local information for demonstrating outcomes. A National DCRS report is produced bi-annually giving important national benchmarking data from across England and various organisations have been commissioned by DCRS to produce reports based on the data they collect.
